Cheyenne

The capital of Wyoming Cheyenne is a cowboy town trying to cling on to its frontier past. Cheyenne is the largest city of Wyoming with an area of 21.19 square miles. Cheyenne has retained its Western frontier traditions while keeping pace with the twenty-first century. It is a county seat of Laramie County and continues to be a railroad and livestock center. The city is also a primary industrial area in the state as well as the site of a major military base. It is nor much of a travel destination though it is known for its quality of life and for high clean air ratings.

Surrounded by rolling prairie, Cheyenne is located between the North and South Platte rivers. The Laramie Mountains influences local temperature and weather. The warm Chinook winds blowing during winter help in keeping the temperature warm.  Because of the terrain and wind patterns, Cheyenne experiences wide daily temperature fluctuations of 30 degrees in the summer and about 23 degrees in the winter. The city receives an average annual snowfall of 51.3 inches and 14.1 inches of rain.
